WES Hall Amenities

West and East Halls offer a wide variety of resources to residents. In most cases, these resources are conveniently located in the complex and students have access to many of them 24 hours a day.

  • Study Rooms and Nooks – There are 14 different study rooms and three study nooks located throughout West and East Halls. These rooms and study nooks provide private, quiet, study spaces where individuals or groups can work on classwork. Three study rooms provide access to a printer and a computer that is available for the community to use.
  • Student Identity Group Spaces – MIX (Mixed Identity Exchange) and MESA (Middle Eastern Student Association) both have designated student group spaces in West Hall on the top floor.
  • Living Room – There is one living room located on the second floor of West Hall. This living room can serve as a social gathering space for the community. The living room has couches, tables and chairs, vending machines, a TV and DVD player, and a bathroom.
  • Demonstration Kitchen – The Demonstration kitchen is used by students, staff and faculty on campus for a wide variety of cooking projects and events. The kitchen has a refrigerator, oven, stovetop, dishwasher, sink, and a long seating and work-station. The demonstration kitchen is also equipped with a television for presentations and vending machines. Some cooking supplies for the kitchen are available for checkout from the WES Hall Service Desk.
  • Laundry Rooms – Located on the first floors of West and East Halls, the laundry rooms are a community space that allows WES Hall residents to wash and dry their clothes conveniently. Laundry costs $1.00 to wash and $0.75 to dry and can be paid for with Claremont Cash on a Pitzer student ID card or with quarters.
  • Founding Faculty Amphitheater – Located in an outdoor space tucked between WES and PAS Halls, the amphitheater is dedicated to Pitzer’s founding faculty. This is a great meeting space to have outdoor events like open mic night, a bonfire, or club event.
  • Academic Space – In addition to the residential space, the first floor of West Hall is home to the Mosbacher/Gartrell Center for Media Experimentation and Activism, the Office of Study Abroad and International Programs, the Pitzer Archive and Conference Center, and the Kallick Family Gallery. There are also seminar rooms, study rooms, computer and digital photography labs, and ten media studies editing suites.
